Mississippi Falls

I thought I was going to go over Niagara Falls ! I reached a point where the Mississippi merges with the Tennessee and /or some other major tributaries . I could see what looked like rapids and the water got faster and faster . It does not help to lose your nerve in these situations as you will die anyways. Clutch the Helm and hope you did not take the wrong river.

Right to Bear Arms

As an alien I do not have the right to bear arms , at least I don't think so . It does not really matter as I am grounded.
As Captain Fern I had the rights to a flare gun .
I came very close to using twice on the Mississippi and it is just
by chance became a tool of last resort.
I was exhausted and could not find a place to anchor so I pulled into a boat yard and a tug boat came and blasted me with the turbulence of his engines. I was going to let him have my attention with the Flare gun but I opted to leave as my boat had enough speed to avoid a disastrous confrontation. My next stop was not much better. I found a place along the shore where I could drop anchor. It was a camp ground of sorts with shadows up in the woods going back and fro . Not certain if Mississippi has a stand on your own boat law but at 3 or 4 in the morning I was willing to chance it. Locked my cabin and with my cocked flare gun I went to sleep no sextant or GPS in hand

Looking for The Big Red

I did not know that I was not the only one sleepless on the Mississippi and the Tombigbee I tied up at a lock where there was a group of women fishing. One looked like Aunt Jemima and she was a very nice friendly person. They were trying to catch the Big Red . For all I knew that could have been the Chicago lawyer with the 54 foot Sea Ray , who was docked nearby.
The lawyers wife wanted to adopt me so they also could reach The Gulf od Mexico. I must be a damn good captain because when I did reach the gulf , some guys asked if they could travel with me as they had a new twin engine 34 footer and they were concerned about their safety. I obligated them for half a day. I spent $75 Dollars they spent $350 Dollars same distance same speed.
I had to spend a few days in Mobile Alabama. Electrolysis chewed a hole in the base of my dipstick and the oil poured into my bilge , I had to have the engine removed .My GPS failed me simultaneously as I had not hooked it up to my main battery.
I think that somewhere between Mobile Alabama and Tampa I sort of declared war on The United States. I had jets flying close over my head and found out the charts declared my location as a possible military zone. I did not end up with the Oriskany
